What are guitar effect pedals?
Guitar effect pedals are devices that basically manipulate, distort or complement your sound in a way that is often unattainable without effects. From subtle changes in your tone to extreme distortion and everything in between, effect pedals are an essential part of almost every guitarist's arsenal.
At Rock City Guitar Shop, we stock many different effects for guitar and bass: from the true classics to innovative new technologies. You'll find both analogue and digital pedals in our shop, so there's always an option to suit your setup.
Types of guitar effects
There are many different types of guitar effects, but generally we can group them all under a few categories. With us you will find:

Overdrive and distortion pedals: These are pedals that really everyone should have at least one, but in addition, they are often the basis for the sound of any rock or metal guitarist. They distort your sound, but there is a lot of variation, from a light transparent overdrive to heavy, ripping distortion. Modulation (Phaser, Flanger, Chorus) pedals: Modulation pedals basically add movement to your sound. Looking for a warm chorus for a fuller sound or just a spacey phaser effect? We stock several options from the likes of Strymon, Electro Harmonix and Ibanez.

Compressor pedals: A compressor balances your dynamics and can also adjust your attack and sustain. Boss and NUX are well-known names when it comes to high-quality compressor pedals.

EQ (Equaliser) pedals: EQ pedals give you full control over the frequencies in your signal. This is an ideal pedal when you want to be able to shape sound all by yourself. Brands like MXR and Boss are excellent options for an EQ effect pedal.
